Full-time The New Tonight Show with Jay Leno - Writing Internship

If you are a former late night show host your limited skills can greatly expand with this opportunity!

Each intern is exclusively responsible for the execution of the list of duties assigned by the Jay Leno Writing Team and therefore required to allocate most of their internship time during days, afternoons, evenings and some Saturdays.

Interns will work on more than one project at the studio, often with deadlines that must be met. Consequently, all interns are expected to attend a weekly intern staff meeting in order to communicate and stay on schedule with their assigned tasks.

Script Writing & Editing Intern responsibilities include:
-limited answering Phones, Typing, Filing, advanced e-mail techniques, basic -math skills and computer skills.
-familiarity with script writing
-familiarity with program Final Draft and Microsoft Word
-Strong communication and writing skills
-Excellent grammar
-Using copy machine and inkjet printer
-writing & proofing TV Episode outlines
-writing & proofing TV Show synopsises
-writing project synopsisies for web and print promotion
-writing & proofing TV, Commercial, Infomercial & film treatments
-writing & proofing TV, Commercial, Infomercial & film scripts
-writing Press releases and e-mail or snail mailing them out
-writing content for Web Sites, Promotional and Advertising Materials

The appropriate candidate must be willing to learn and take directions well. Willing to learn multi-media software and strive to be excellent at each project and assignment. A good candidate will look and behave professionally and be on time and reliable.

Interns should farmiliar with the software listed below. It is not necessary to be an expert at all of them.

Job Requirements:

  • Can pass a drug test
  • Can work 12 – 20 hours a week, occasional weekends when needed.
  • Can lift 25 pounds
  • Has reliable transportation and a valid drivers license
  • Good organization skills
  • Understands and meets time lines and due dates
  • Be able to listen and perform to creative direction
  • Must be a team player – working well with others

Time Commitment: 12-20 hours per week (must have a regular schedule), 200 hours per semester (or as specified by your school’s curriculum).
